I have taken a break from posting for a couple of years, although not from writing itself. I have folders and notebooks full of sketches of thoughts, tangled bits and pieces of memories and ideas, it’s just that none of them have made it to finished article format.
It’s not just that life has been busy – while time hasn’t exactly been plentiful, you can always find time for the things you want to do, at least in my experience. It’s more that what I absolutely have not had time for the past couple of years is interacting with people who are very wrong about various things on the Internet, which in turn meant I have spent a lot less time thinking about how to explain things to other people.
I am very glad to have spent the time writing the articles and guides I did, because they were a great way of clarifying my thinking and they have providing the foundation on which I have continued to develop my understanding of my own head and how all of these things work.
However, I have struggled to find either the time or the inclination to spend, polishing something to make it understandable to the world at large. It feels rather a shame to just leave all my bits and pieces of writing languishing in a Drafts folder somewhere, never to see the light of day.
So, I want to try something new for me: writing something more akin to a traditional form of blog. Just whatever is on my mind in the moment, expressed basically as a stream of consciousness, just as an excuse to write, really.
I might come back and do something with these rough sketches at some point or I might not, but the main thing is, at least I will have gotten my ideas down in some form. I will probably edit and update them as and when I have time and my thinking develops.
I am doing this predominantly for my own entertainment and peace of mind, but if you happen to stumble upon this, feel free to tag along for the ride.
